About the Foundation
The single child „Sovan“ of the founder couple Bhuyan was born in the year 1974 in Essen, Germany. He was an outstanding meritorious student in the schools, college and stood first class first in bachelor degree with honors from the Alfred-Krupp-Gymnasium, Essen.He continued his study in the Ruhr-University, Bochum, Germany and stood first class first in the Dipl. -Chem. examinations in the faculty of chemistry. There, after he engaged himself to plan the Bidya Bihar Campus (BiBiCa) Gaddeulia, Odisha, INDIA and simultaneously began the research (Ph. D.) in Physical Chemistry in the University of Cologne, GERMANY. After suffering from an incurable cancer disease, Sovan an energetic, dynamic and meritorious young man left the world for ever in the year 2006.
In the loving memory of their son Sovan, the parents donated a „Day Care Unit“ at the government run hospital Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Center („AHRCC“) located in Cuttack, Odisha, India. This unit commenced its operation on 23. January 2012, the birthday of Sovan and is serving since then to cancer patients in the chemotherapeutic treatment.
With the establishment of the BEST–Foundation in the year 2014, the Founder couple intends to promote actively in education, science, research and better international understanding between Germany and India and ensure the continuence of these activities beyond their death. According to the statutes of the BEST–Foundation, the pri- mary objectives are:
- Promote the exchange of students, trainees, and researchers by providing financial help in form of stipends to support study and research stays in Germany and India,
- Promote the personnel exchange between universities and govern- ment research institutions especially from the field of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Medicine by providing travel support and scholarships for young students and scientists,
- Establish prizes and awards for excellent theoretical and experi- mental work, project and course works and life-time achievement awards
The foundation wishes primarily and alternatively to support per- sons and institutions from India (here especially from Odisha) and Germany.
The BEST–Foundation offers Promotional Prizes possibly once in a year one after another in Germany and Odisha, out of the earnings from the assets of the Foundation and donations. In addition to that it’s possible to donate in the financial assets of the foundation.
The BEST–Foundation is legally dependent and abide by German rules and legal regulations. It is a non-profit in nature and does not pursue any activities intended at its own economic advantage. The BEST–Foundation fulfills its purpose primarily from the assets of the Bhuyan Family and is administered honorarily by the non-profit organization Ruhrstiftung Bildung und Erziehung, Essen, which is also the legal representative of the foundation.
